The Costa Rica Star will blur the line between Tico and foreigner, and bring everyone interested in Costa Rica together to empower and educate in a transparent fashion, through the digital publication of English news media. Native Costa Rican Ticos, Permanent Residents, Visitors, Business Owners, Investors, and Immigrants have a diverse language comprehension, and we are here to provide the news media that you desire in English. You can also select your own language if you prefer reading in another language (such as Chinese), by using the Google Translate tool at the top of each article. While it is not an exact translation, it does serve the purpose and gets the content message across.
What
The Costa Rica Star publishes news articles across 10 categories, mainly focusing on Costa Rica local news, however we do publish world news as we obviously know that wider reaching issues and global current events affect all of us. Think of us as an aspiring version of the BBC, but based in Costa Rica. We are also listed in Google News globally and thus receive thousands of daily website hits from all nations of the world.
When
The Costa Rica Star was founded in December 2011 by a Canadian Citizen who now lives in Costa Rica as a permanent full-time resident. Graduating from Highschool at the American International School of Costa Rica as well as attending the University of Victoria in BC Canada for Business Studies, and acquiring a professional website development diploma from the Institute of Advanced Media, now called Van Arts, our founder is well versed in needs of English news media here in Costa Rica. Building a strong team of writers and contributors is at the core of who we are and what we do. There is absolutely strength in numbers along with a clearly outlined timeline of business objectives.
Where
The Costa Rica Star is located in the Forum 1 office buildings of Santa Ana Costa Rica. We have satellite offices around Costa Rica, but that is where our main office and administration is located. We sublease office space from another business who leases there. In the near future we may move to another location in Costa Rica which allows for a better quality of life for our main employees, but at this current time Forum 1 is centrally located for our business needs.
