San Juan, Feb 2 (EFE).– Puerto Rican singer Elvis Crespo will debut a song this week inspired by the relationship between Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman and actress Kate del Castillo.

As the singer’s rep Mayna Nevarez told EFE, the single entitled “Escapate” (Escape) was recorded with the collaboration of Crespo’s former bandmates in Grupo Mania and the accompanying music video will be posted on YouTube.

For now, a preview of the video can be seen on Crespo’s Instagram account.

El Chapo, the most wanted drug lord on the planet until his recapture last month, has been in contact with Kate del Castillo since 2012 when she posted a Twitter message urging the kingpin to become a “hero” who traffics in good works.

Del Castillo, who portrayed a drug cartel boss in the television series “La Reina del Sur,” joined up with actor Sean Penn to interview El Chapo while he was still at large after escaping from a maximum security prison last summer.

According to the Mexican government, those contacts helped pinpoint Guzman’s whereabouts and led to his capture on Jan. 8, after which he was locked up in the same jail he escaped from six months before. EFE
