Press Release / Corcovado National Park was included in the top 10 of the best National Parks in the World by Discovery Corp.  This recognition is based on criteria by National Geographic that considers this area as “the most biologically intense area in the world when it comes to biodiversity”.

Corcovado encompasses diverse ecosystems, including cloud forests, montane forest, mangroves and tropical rain forests. The volume and variety of wildlife present in the area, and the presence of four species of Costa Rican monkeys, two types of sloths, two kinds of anteaters, caimans, jaguars, the harpy eagle, tapirs, crocodiles, frogs and hundreds of colorful birds are also part of the reasons Corcovado made the top 10.

The presence of Isla del Caño, offers exceptional conditions to practice scuba diving. The protected waters are home to a large number of sea turtles, dolphins, sharks, sting rays and humpback whales.

Surprisingly only 1% of the visitors of Corcovado are Costa Rican, which is why since the beginning of 2016 the Ministry of Environment and Energy and Osa Conservation Area have been running a campaign with the slogan “You also are Corcovado” (Vos también sos Corcovado) with the hope of promoting national tourism to this incredible National Park.

Corcovado includes 42,750 land hectares and 5,372 marine hectares.
