A report prepared by the Security and Vigilance Unit of the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica indicates that the office of a controversial politician may have been used for sexual encounters by couples who volunteer as analysts.

 

The report was issued to the press on February 10^th by Magaly Camacho, Chief of Security at the Assembly. The office in question is currently occupied by Legislator Ligia Fallas of the Frente Amplio (Broad Front) political party. According to the report, security guards and investigators at the Legislative Assembly have noticed various incidents in which couples have utilized the aforementioned office as a makeshift love motel.

 

It so happens that the office of Legislator Fallas is the largest at the Assembly; aside from the private chamber where Legislator Fallas adjourns to when she is not in session, there are also workrooms, a small kitchen, cafeteria, and conference spaces. It was in one of these spaces where security guards at the Assembly state that they have found young couples entering after hours and promptly turning off the lights.

 

Puzzled by how these couples were able to work in darkness, a security guard knocked before entering the office, where he found a nervous young man with a female companion. The man explained that he volunteers as a legislative analyst for Legislator Fallas, but the woman did not have any ties to the politician or to the Broad Front political faction.

 

It is important to note that Legislator Fallas’ office is not located directly within the historical Assembly building; it is adjacent to it. The legislator has a considerable number of volunteer analysts and activists, many of them are students at the University of Costa Rica main campus, which is located across town. All volunteers have keys to this office, which is open 24 hours a day.

 

The report also notes that Legislator Fallas has been contacted about young staffers lounging at her office until late hours of the night; she tersely responded that her analysts are free to enter the workspace at any time and she has also suggested that the security report smells like a political hit against her and the Broad Front.

 

As previously reported by The Costa Rica Star, Legislator Fallas has lodged a sexual harassment complaint against another legislator, and she once made headlines when she infamously stated “Costa Rica is repulsive” when commenting on the situation of work contracts at the Moin Terminal in Limon.
