MIAMI (Wednesday, June 10, 2015) – The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) unveiled today the provisional 35-player rosters submitted by the 12 Participating Member Associations for the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2015. These binding rosters will serve as the foundation for teams to select the teams that will ultimately compete in the Confederation’s flagship national team tournament, from July 7-26.

In line with the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2015 Regulations, the preliminary rosters publicized today will provide the total universe of players from which each national team may choose its initial 23-player roster. Each national team will also be permitted to make up to six replacements to that 23-player list after the conclusion of the tournament’s group stage. Those replacements must also come from the provisional list of 35 published today.

Here is the roster submitted by the National Men’s Football Team of Costa Rica, a favorite to win this year’s Gold Cup. The roster is organized by jersey number, name, position, and current club. Please note that goalkeeper Esteban Alvarado, who has been very active in recent international matches played by Costa Rica, is not under contract to any professional football club at this time:

United States is the defending champion of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Along with the 2013 title, the U.S. secured half a ticket to the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. The Americans could clinch a berth in that intercontinental competition by defending their title in 2015. If the champion of the 2015 Gold Cup is any team other than the United States, that team will qualify for a playoff match against the U.S. to decide which CONCACAF national team will represent the region in the next Confederations Cup.

The twelve national teams qualified for this year’s tournament are, in alphabetical order: Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Trinidad & Tobago and the United States.

Taking place every two years, the Gold Cup has established itself as the region’s most popular national team tournament. Featuring the Confederation’s best players from 12 top nations, the competition routinely draws capacity crowds and millions of television viewers across the region and around the world.
