Costa Rican boxer Yokasta Valle will be fighting for a World Title on Friday, December 16.

Valle, currently undefeated with 11 professional fights will be facing Mexican Ana Victoria Polo, who holds a record of 10-1. The fight will take place in the Central Park of San Jose, and will be open to the public.

The title in dispute is the International Boxing Federation IBF – Junior Mini Flyweight (102 LBS) Championship. The Costa Rican is 24 years old, 5’4 and this is her first shot at a world title.

“ I am not nervous, but I am a bit anxious, I feel the pressure but I am also motivated, because I know I have worked very hard with my trainer Marco Delgado and I have confidence that this World Title will stay in Costa Rica. Ever since I was told I was going to fight for a title I have been working harder, but even if the fight was today I’d be ready” said Valle.

Valle will be the second Costa Rican female boxer to get the opportunity to fight for a World Title; currently Hanna Gabriels is the WBO/WBA World Female Super Welterweight Champion.

In this same card, Costa Rican heavyweight Carl Davis will be stepping back in the ring, after three years of absence against an opponent yet to be determined. Davis was at the peak of his career in 2008 and in 2009 he fought for the WBA World heavyweight title against Ruslan Chagaev, he lost by Technical Decision. Since then, Davis has participated in six bouts. He has a record of 30 wins and 4 losses.
