Jeffrey Mora Calderon from Barva de Heredia was convicted last month of producing pornography using a 14-year-old girl, and distributing the pornographic materials, reported AM Prensa, a Costa Rican digital news media.

The 14-year sentence was handed down by Costa Rica’s First Judicial Circuit Criminal Court on August 18, the assistant prosecutor for gender affairs told AM Prensa yesterday.

Mora’s use of the underage girl dates to December 2009, when the man found the girl living alone in San José and using different types of drugs, said the prosecutor.

Police investigators found that Mora forced the child to sign a contract as if she were an adult stating that she would be filmed having sex with adults.

Mora distributed the videos on a webpage dedicated to pornography and also showed the film at a locale in San José on several occasions.

Police raided his home in Barva on February 5, 2010, and, upon finding and seizing videos and photographs with pornographic content, Mora was arrested and transferred to the Public Security Ministry.

Mora will remain in custody until his sentence becomes definitive, stated AM Prensa.
