Consumers of Costa Rican craft beer will be able to get a monthly six pack of different types of beers in their homes or offices.

The model is a subscription box by which clients will receive exclusive products from national microbreweries they can savor.

The system works through an online registration system where users pick the delivery place and can make their payment through Paypal ; they will receive 6 out of the 150 different artisan beers produced by the 40 microbreweries currently existing in the country, 2 of each brand with a total cost of $29.99.

“In Costa Rica there is very high quality artisan beer, and through The Six consumers can experience new flavors and mixes”, said Juan Carlos Chavez, cofounder of The Six to national newspaper El Financiero.

“We have to break two paradigms, the online sale and the subscription model”, added Chavez.

Recently a total of 13 Costa Rican craft beers received gold, silver and bronze medals in the America region international competition of alcoholic beverages. In total there were 1,043 participating beers, Costa Rica was represented 86 different types from 26 different companies. The winners of two gold medals were Chichemel Caribeño and Passiflora.

The microbrewery business continues to grow in Costa Rica and they continue to find new ways to promote their products and position themselves in the taste of the Costa Rican beer consumers; participating in fairs and festivals such as the upcoming Oktober fest is part of that strategy and they hope this new subscription model will also help them in their goal.
