Costa Rican surfer Leilani McGonagle continues to climb the WSL rankings

Leilani McGonagle and Emily Gussoni concluded their participation in the US Open of Surfing where they took part of the Supergirl WQS 6,000 that took place at “Surf City”, Huntington Beach in California.

McGonagle finished in ninth place making it to Round 6 of the event. Unfortunately Emily Gussoni didn’t make it past round 2 of the event.

The Supergirl event had a total of 128 participants, including 13 of the best female surfers in the world.
Finally it was Courtney Conlogue from the USA that took the first place of the event, followed by Sage Erickson from the United States.

The participation in this event moved Leilani up 12 spots in the general rankings and she earned 1550 points.
When it comes to the male participants, the event started yesterday and both Carlos “Cali”Muñoz and Noe Mar McGonagle who are competing in the WQS 10,000 have had a good performance so far and just classified to Round 3. There are five rounds in total and then come the quarterfinals.

The last two Costa Rican contestants Malakai Martínez and Aldo Chirino who are part of the Male Junior PRO have not taken part of the competition yet.
