Fair Play Labs, Journey Animation and Headless Chicken Games are three Costa Rican videogames companies that are participating in the External Development Summit (XDS) that is taking place in Vancouver, Canada.

“The External Development Summit is the only annual international games industry event held in Canada with a primary focus on external development of art, animation, audio, software engineering, QA and localization”, explains the XDS website. Attendees include game developers, vendors, trade organizations and middle-ware providers from over 36 countries.

The Costa Rican companies are receiving assessment from the Foreign Trade Promotion Agency, will get a chance to network and meet with developers of America, Europe and Asia.

In Costa Rica the video games industry has gained ground and now companies have reached a level of specialization and excellence that allow them to be hired for different jobs including character and setting design, programming, special effects, musical beds, among many other. The main markets are the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan.
