Costa Rica’s Animal Health Service (SENASA) continues to work in the communities affected by hurricane Otto. Officials continue feeding and caring for pets in the areas of impact and the temporary clinics.

SENASA has delivered in the areas affected, 46,829.22 kilograms of pet food, with an estimated cost of 79 million colones (close to $150 thousand USD). To date, the lands in these northern areas are still saturated, and this is why all field teams continue working and evaluating the condition of the farms in this area as well as in the Caribbean and Brunca areas.

The generosity of the Costa Rican people continues to manifest and the institution will continue distributing food, forage and supplies in the areas affected.

World Animal Protection, the Veterinary Doctors’ Professional College, the  Cattle Breeders’ Chamber, the Food for Animals, and other public and private companies and volunteers, have contributed dry food  and forage  for the attention of a part of the affected producers. In total it is estimated that there’s close to $150 thousand dollars in pet food and over $2 million USD in food for productive animals that have already been distributed.
