National brewer, Cervecería Costa Rica is introducing a new version of the country’s favorite cerveza, Imperial, which contains 0.0 percent alcohol.
The new beverage, called Imperial Cero [zero], is aimed at consumers who like to enjoy a beer but cannot always consume alcohol, the company said.
“It’s a bet by [the company] on innovation and technology. We have made a significant financial investment in equipment and technical development in order to offer our customers this new version of the Imperial family which contains 0.0 percent alcohol and can be enjoyed on any occasion,” a company spokesperson said.
Imperial Cero contains 17 calories per 100 mL, and possesses a hoppy aroma and taste, according to the brewery.
The new alcohol-free brew will add to the brewer’s Imperial brand lineup, which includes original, light, and Silver, and should begin appearing on supermarket shelves in the days ahead.
Since 1998, Cervecería Costa Rica has also marketed another non-alcoholic beer, called Kaiser.
