Like every year, the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce (MEIC) calls on small and medium size corporations to request their condition as PYME to be exonerated from the 2019 Yearly Corporation Tax, for this, the deadline to register and request the exoneration is December 3.
This action is carried out following what’s established in Law 9428 “Corporation Tax Law” and its regulations which benefits with the exoneration of the tax all those contributors that carry out activities of permanent condition classified as micro and small companies and are registered as such at MEIC and the General Direction of Taxing. To be considered a micro or small company, MEIC takes into consideration the number of employees (must be under 35), the total net sales and the company assets.
This benefit also applies to the small and medium size agriculture producers registered at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) and are duly registered as contributors at the General Direction of Taxing of the Ministry of Treasury.
Once companies register there is a 5-day period for the information to be analyzed and the request resolved to be granted the PYME condition, if there are errors in the registration, companies will have 10 additional days to correct them. Registrations received after December 3, 2018 will be processed, but if accepted, companies will not be exonerated from the 2019 tax period.
