A recent survey by Delta Dental inquiring about the health practitioners adults would like to see more often, shows dentists leading the list. According to the study 41% of adult Americans consider they do not visit the dentist as often as they should or like. (Dermatologists come in second place with a 28% and Gynecologists third with a 25%)

This survey also showed that 63% of adults consider that good oral health helps them feel confident on a daily basis, more so than having a clear skin (56%) or being in shape (50%).

Good oral health cannot be underestimated, the mouth is key to the overall well-being of an individual, not only is a poor dental health directly related with health problems, but it is also has an impact in a person’s self-esteem, confidence, emotional health and quality of life. Having a good oral health allows us to speak properly, smile and eat.

Sadly, there are many reasons for individuals not to visit the dentist every six months as recommended, some still have fear of the dentist and dental anxiety, while for others there’s a financial reason behind it. As a result of this, according to the CDC 1 in 4 US adults have untreated cavities and nearly 50% of all adults aged 30 or older – about 65 million people – have signs of gum disease, causing teeth to become lose.
