All clients of PriceSmart Costa Rica who have recently purchased frozen raw tilapia should check to see if it is part of the lot #16080816172Y with expiration date: 08/07/2018 and if so, return it to the closest PriceSmart as soon as possible to receive a full reimburse, informed PriceSmart today through its local Facebook page.
PriceSmart informed that they had been notified by the Costa Rica Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, that high levels of sulfadiazine (an antibiotic), which can be harmful to health, were detected in a lot inspected of the product #242986 and #245513 Frozen Raw Tilapia Filets 3/5 ounces, which is why they requested the volunteer withdraw of the product from the shelves.
Reimburse only applies to product purchased between November 7th and November 24th under the lot number mentioned above (#16080816172Y) since no other lot is affected.
According to the information given by PriceSmart, this is only a preventive measure as they haven’t received any reports of illnesses or complaints related to the intake of this product.
