To ensure the privacy of his family, basketball star Kobe Bryant reportedly purchased enough tickets to clear out an entire section of a movie theater while on vacation in Costa Rica.

Mr. Bryant has been in Costa Rica for about a week. According to online gossip and entertainment website TMZ.com, Mr. Bryant took his wife and daughters to the Beach Cinema Playa Hermosa on Wednesday to enjoy the latest Pixar film Inside Out, and the movie theater owner mentioned that the 17-time NBA All-Star and his family were very nice.

The Beach Cinema is located within the upscale Condominio Hermosa Height in Playa Hermosa, province of Guanacaste. Mr. Bryant and his family reportedly flew directly into the Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport in Liberia, and they have been seen enjoying the Gold Coast beaches.

While Mr. Bryant relaxes in Costa Rica, his aching team is busy updating the player roster and handling PR affairs. The Los Angeles Lakers, the only NBA team Mr. Bryant has played for in 20 illustrious years, is currently a shadow of what it used to be during the 2000 – 2002 and 2009 – 2010 championship seasons. To this effect, the Lakers recently drafted Larry Nance Jr., the son of the legendary NBA player who won the first-ever slam-dunk contest during All-Star Weekend in 1984.

It is very likely that Mr. Bryant has lots of respect for his new teammate’s father, but there may be friction once the team returns to practice. As recently reported by Fox News, Mr. Nance Jr. rushed to Twitter after the draft to delete an update from three years ago, when he mocked Mr. Bryant’s trouble with the law after he was accused of sexual assault, a situation that resulted in dropped criminal charges. On that tweet, Mr. Nance Jr. used the hashtag #rapist and took a cheap shot at Mr. Bryant.

The General Manager of the Lakers told the press that he has already spoken to the rookie draft pick about the situation, and he hopes that the new teammates will discuss the issue on a personal level. Mr. Bryant is considered by many to be one of the best professional basketball players of all time and a candidate to the Naismith Hall of Fame.
