Los Angeles, Mar 24 (EFE).– Legendary singer and former member of The Beatles Paul McCartney will be cast in “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” the fifth film in the adventure saga about pirates starring Johnny Depp, the specialized media outlet Deadline reported Thursday.

At present, further details about McCartney’s performance in the feature film – and even the role he will play – are not known.

He will not be the first musician to appear in a “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie, given that Rolling Stones lead guitarist Keith Richards played the father of Capt. Jack Sparrow (Depp) in both “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” (2007) and “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” (2011).

With the return of actor Orlando Bloom as the character Will Turner, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” which will be in theaters in 2017, will have a cast headed – once again – by Depp but also including Geoffrey Rush, Spaniard Javier Bardem and Kaya Scodelario.

The “Pirates” saga is one of Disney’s most successful film franchises with over $3.6 billion in ticket sales worldwide. EFE
