Love him, despise him or just plain can’t stand him President Donald Trump is on the move everywhere you look around the world and at home. World headlines are screaming from Syrian gas attacks killing children, North Korea’s nuclear threats, suicide bombers and Iran still vowing to destroy Israel. America’s headlines are screaming healthcare crisis, “resist” Trump’s agenda and illegal national security leaks to the media.
Everything is getting political these days to the point of a civil war brewing between supporters of President Trump and everyone else trying to derail his presidency. The Democrats are putting on a disgusting display of petty politics in their opposition to U.S. Supreme Court nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch, whose nomination will be voted upon Friday in the U.S. Senate.
It seems as if the ‘FBI-Russia-Election-Trump’ controversy is being cancelled out by former President Obama’s National Security Adviser Susan Rice and her “intelligence” problems that resulted in revealing identities of private American citizens against the rule of law, according to news reports. Here comes another long drawn out investigation in the intelligence committees of both houses of the U.S. Congress like they don’t have better things they all could be doing.
Rice is sure to be summoned to appear before these Congressional committees and questioned under oath about classified security leaks that occurred allegedly as a result of her actions during the final year of the Obama presidency. If she appears before these committees and under oath invokes the 5th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution against self-incrimination all hell will break lose.
Nobody in the mainstream media is even talking any more about the Democrat’s call for further Congressional investigations into Russian influence upon the presidential election of 2016 which dominated national news only a few weeks ago. My — oh my — how short the memory span is with mainstream media.
What all this amounts to is diversion after diversion coming from both political parties with one diversion cancelling out the other. The future is sure to be one diversion after another to keep from getting any real work done for the American people.
It’s not going unnoticed by the American public that see President Trump out there doing his job at break-neck speed reducing the strangle hold of regulations upon American business, meetings at the White House with foreign leaders and meeting with special interest groups listening to other opinions.
Behind the scenes President Trump’s team along with legislators are redrafting the American Health Care Act of 2017 to replace ObamaCare. The AHCA never was brought to a vote in the U.S. House and is still on the front burner for another upcoming vote yet to be announced, but it’s coming.
This week at his Mar-A-Lago estate in Florida, President Trump is expected to confront Chinese President Xi Jinping about the imminent threat of a nuclear North Korea to the USA, Japan, South Korea and other counties. Choosing Mar-A-Lago’s relaxed atmosphere and out of sight from news reporters and other prying eyes is a good move on the president’s part.
Their discussions about North Korea and President Trump’s repeated criticisms of USA’s and China’s trade imbalances could get testy and downright angry, but these two leaders will hopefully emerge and give a joint press conference expressing a willingness to work together and mean it.
China and North Korea share a common border. North Korea is dependent upon China for nearly everything the country consumes – food and medicines – that it does not produce itself due to international trade sanctions placed upon the long-standing unstable government of North Korea. No other county but China has any influence over this rogue government.
The White House issued a brief statement Tuesday about the two-day China-Trump meeting in Florida that simply stated that if China did not do something about North Korea, the USA would. The statement also said there would be “no further comment” about North Korea.
President Trump is working while the Washington ‘merry-go-round’ chases rainbows, windmills and shadows.
