If there is one thing Costa Rica is not short off is bars, there are way too many bars in every single community, but many are targeted to a younger crowd 18-25, generally loud and crowded. When you are 30+ you much rather sit down and enjoy a nice conversation and good food with friends.

Luckily, Escazu has a good selection of bars for adults over 30:

Oveja Negra: In San Rafael de Escazu, the place is cozy and relaxed, ideal to enjoy great food in good company. There are many cocktails to choose from, all of them deliciously prepared.

Zonna Gastro Bar: This gastro bar is located in Galeria Escazu shopping center. Cocktails, a beautiful selection of wines, and excellent Mediterranean food, the experience in general will make you want to keep coming back.

Pocket: This cocktail bar is famous for its Gin menu, the place is charming and fun, live music and very good “bocas” to go along with your drink. If you are a big fan of Tom Collins, or an exquisite Gin Sour, this is your place.

Praha: Located in Avenida Escazú, Praha is modern and funky at the same time, it offers a wide variety of cocktails and a good selection of wine and beers, the place can get a bit crowded at times, but in general it offers a nice atmosphere with indoor/outdoor seating.

Winetown: This bar opened recently at Escazu Village, elegant and modern but not in extreme. Wine is of course the star of the menu there are over 40 different wines you can try by the glass and in general over 200 bottles from all over the world; but if you are not into wine the place offers other cocktails and liquor options. The menu offers a very good selection of dishes, mostly “Tapas” or “bocas”. Usually live music completes the experience.
