6.1 Earthquake Was Felt in Costa Rica and Nicaragua

A 6.1 magnitude earthquake was registered at 9:03 a.m. according to data by the National University’s Volcanology and Seismology Research Institute (OVSICORI) 96 km west from Conchal, Guanacaste or 78 km southwest of San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua.

The movement was felt mostly in the Central and North Pacific of Costa Rica.

Earlier this Tuesday at 7:34 a.m. another earthquake of magnitude 4.4 was registered two kilometers southeast of Jaco, Garabito, Puntarenas.

The 6.1 eathquake was felt mostly in Guanacaste and perceived mildly; it was just 10 km deep and attributed to the subduction of the Cocos plate under the Caribbean plate.
