In Costa Rica the Auto Mercado supermarket chain has announced the opening of 18 “Vindi” convenience stores before the end of 2013.

The company opened its first store in San Joaquin de Flores, Heredia and the second opening is scheduled for next week in Santa Anta, Lindora.

“Guillermo Alonso, project manager of the company, told ElFinancierocr.com that at the end the year there will be six Vindi branches in the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM). The pace of openings will be monthly, and will be kept up throughout 2013, meaning that at the end of the period there will be 18 outlets. According to Alonso, in each of the branches measuring 500 square meters, the company is investing, in equipment and furniture alone, about $300,000, which will generate about 20 new jobs. ”

The supermarket chain has formed an alliance with the developer Interra, which is responsible for selecting the points of sale and carrying out construction work.
