In the past The Costa Rica Star has reported on Sir Richard Branson calling for the end to Shark Finning in Costa Rica.
Today, the Government of the Republic of Costa Rica will sign a decree that seeks to eliminate, once and for all, the practice of shark finning in Costa Rica.
The activity for the signing of the decree called “shark finning ban, import, and transport in Costa Rica waters” will be held at the Manuel Antonio National Park, with the presence of Richard Branson, founder and chairman of Virgin Group.
Branson, renowned environmentalist, is the mastermind behind over 360 companies employing more than 50,000 people in 29 countries worldwide. Among its initiatives are several groups of businesses that see the business potential in the environmental field. The Carbon War Room is one such company that has helped dozens of small economies to capitalize on the benefits of low carbon initiatives.
Shark finning has been banned in Costa Rica since 2001, however this new decree seeks to make it final, to ensure that the survival of the Shark species in local waters prevails.
Yesterday The Costa Rica Star shared a picture on our Facebook page of the aftermath of Shark Finning, our readers fully support this new decree and wish to see all Shark Finning stopped permanently.
