Transforming light and color into three-dimensional shapes is one of Florencia Urbina Crespos’s hallmarks as an artist. Born in Costa Rica, Florencia brings together a collection of intensely tropical work in “Boom Goes the Tropics,” at the Hidden Garden Art Gallery. Prior to holding the position of Director at the Museo de Arte Costarricense in San José, Florencia was cultural attaché to the Costa Rican embassy in London, and was an advisor to the Ministerio de Cultura during the first Arias administration. She studied art in Costa Rica, the U.S.A and Indonesia. Her works are included in many national and international collections.
Among the awards she has won is the Costa Rican Premio Nacional de Pintura. Urbina’s uninhibited style and her use of powerful colors and strong lines bring a new perspective to her revitalized neo-figurative work. Join us on Saturday, December 1st from 10 am to 4 pm for the opening of her Guanacaste exhibit, “Boom Goes the Tropics,” at the Hidden Garden Art Gallery, located 5 kms west of the Daniel Oduber (LIR) International Airport.
