A friend of mine invited me to some big parade that was going on today here in town so I decided to check it out. Did not know until the last minute that it was to celebrate Independence for Central America! Very cool.

While I am pretty easily entertained, this was going to be something substantial to see, so I was pretty excited to watch this parade. And then it started and it was awesome!

Why? Because it was cuteness overload. The parade was entirely made up of children from all over the area. Hundreds. Maybe thousands. Dressed up, playing drums, and smiling. Even kids in the crowd were dressed for the occasion. And there were older high school kids playing in marching bands as well. Never in my life have I seen a town parade that was simply kids. Such a pleasant surprise. (Kids are the future, you know.)

Naturally, I took a ton of photos. And I also shot some pretty nifty video footage which I’ll upload as soon as I get the chance. For now though, check out all of the photos on the Costa Rica Star Facebook page. Pura Vida!
