Coca Cola fashion is slowly making its way into Costa Rica by means of select distributors. Not long ago, The Costa Rica Star reported on the opening of a second OPI Nail Bar in Costa Rica, specifically in Curridabat:
OPI is a fashion nail giant that is known for its innovative products, interesting polishes and attractive lacquers. Its Coca Cola collection of lacquers, for example, is inspired by the soft drink giant’s products such as Fanta, Cherry Coke, Sprite, etc.
Now that fashionable Ticas have Coca Cola lacquers literally at their fingertips, the logical progression would be to continue down to their feet. Enter Coca Cola Shoes, a footwear line that was unsuccessfully introduced in North America in the mid-1980s, which has been completely redesigned for very specific markets. Coca Cola shoes entered the Brazilian and Argentinean markets in 2013. By the time the 2014 FIFA World Cup was in full gear, Coca Cola shoes were very popular in Rio de Janeiro and other major centers of fashion in that South American nation.
Gala Sports is the official distributor of Coca Cola Shoes in Costa Rica, and they have several stores in Alajuela, Sarapiqui, Cartago, Limon, Orotina, Puriscal, San Carlos, San Jose, and even Aguas Zarcas. These shoes were recently introduced on national television (on the show El Noveno Piso on channel 9), and they are making the rounds on social media. The Coca Cola style this time around is colorful and comfortable, very appropriate for the dry season and for the beach.
