Tica Boxer and World Champion Hanna Gabriels
This weekend, the world of boxing in Costa Rica gained one world title and vacated another despite a victory in the ring. It just so happens that the boxing match action involved two boxers who are married to each other and have a precious daughter who may also train to be a fighter one day.
We are talking about Hanna Gabriel Valle, who knocked out Mexican fighter Patty Ramirez at the San Juan International Ballroom in Puerto Rico. According to Josue Alvarado of online news daily Costa Rica Hoy, the Tica boxer, who fought at the light middleweight division, delivered a series of powerful combinations that culminated in a TKO during the second round.
Gabriel is a very popular athlete in Costa Rica; she is blessed with striking looks that are further accentuated with her powerful punches and top-notch physical conditioning. Gabriel is also known as an animal rights activist. She now holds the light middleweight belt from the World Boxing Organization (WBO).

Tiquito Vasquez
While Gabriel was enjoying the glory of winning a belt for her country, her husband did not fare as well in Cancun, Mexico. Bryan “Tiquito” Vasquez initially lost in his defense of the title, and he literally went down without a fight. Vasquez did not even take the ring as his belt was stripped at the scales when he showed up three pounds heavier than required by the World Boxing Association’s super featherweight division bylaws. The fight organizers determined that the match should take place for the benefit of Mexican fans who showed up en masse to support Sergio “Yeyo” Thompson.
According to Univision Deportes, the Costa Rican fighter was clearly superior and overpowered Thompson throughout the match. In fact, the Mexican fighter even declined to leave his corner on the 10th round, to the dismay of his fans. Despite this victory for Vasquez, the title remains vacated due to the weight violation by the Tico fighter.
