Washington, Jul 8 (EFE).– United Airlines said Wednesday it was forced to ground all its flights around the world due to computer problems.

About 3,500 flights around the world were affected, the U.S.-based carrier said.

“We experienced a network connectivity issue this morning. We are working to resolve this and apologize to our customers for any inconvenience,” the airline said in a message posted on its Web site.

The Federal Aviation Administration, meanwhile, said United’s flights were grounded at 8:00 a.m. EFE

UPDATE BY THE COSTA RICA STAR: Television news network NBC reported some flights will resume today. The airline expects delays for the next few days to all its destinations, which total more than 235 in the United States and 138 around the world, including the Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) in Costa Rica. These delays will be caused by a technological trigger effect as the airline sorts out its automation glitch.
