HACU News Release – Officials from the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) will travel to San José, Costa Rica, for several key meetings on March 30, 2016, to discuss international collaboration in higher education.

HACU president and CEO Antonio R. Flores is set to meet with the President of Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo Solís Rivera, and will attend separate meetings with corporate representatives and leaders of the Costa Rica higher education community.

Flores said the meetings will address specific objectives for HACU’s 12th International Conference in Costa Rica on March 29-31, 2017. The conference, under the theme “Creating New Paths for International Collaboration,” will bring together higher education leaders from the United States, Latin America and Europe to participate in workshops on International Education Policy, International Mobility, Innovation in International Education, Best Practices in International Education, and Preparing the International Workforce of the 21st Century.

A Student Track will also be offered in conjunction with the conference to provide university students an opportunity to explore study abroad opportunities in the region.

“We are proud to be hosting HACU’s 12th International Conference in Costa Rica where ten member institutions are strong partners of HACU,” Flores said. “The decision to host the international conference in Costa Rica was facilitated by efforts of the Universidad de Iberoamérica (UNIBE) to bring this international conference to the region.”

The HACU-member institutions in Costa Rica are among those invited to attend this first planning meeting.
