Recent stormy conditions will start to clear today as Hurricane Earl touches land in Belize and heads into the Yucatán Peninsula, reported the Costa Rican Meteorological Institute (IMN) today. The storm began weeks ago as a wave off the coast of Western Africa.
The hurricane’s effects in Costa Rica were like those of a tropical storm, due to the storm’s indirect and mild presence here with rainfalls amounting to no more than 3-10mm.
The IMN predicts partly cloudy skies this morning throughout much of Costa Rica, except for the Nicoya Peninsula and Central Pacific which will continue with cloudy weather.
However, the IMN predicts a return to regular rainy season weather with strong thunder storms this afternoon in northern areas, and isolated rains through the central and southern regions.
The IMN will provide another weather update at 1 pm today, said Daniel Poleo, IMN meteorologist.
