Members of the Costa Rican Professional Medical Association (Colegio de Médicos) are providing free medical consultations in eight specialties today, Monday the 10th, and tomorrow, Tuesday the 11th of October.

The consultations will be held at the Costa Rican Medical Association headquarters in Sabana Sur adjacent to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG). Those interested should call 2210-2261 to check for availability and schedule an appointment, as space is limited.

During the two days the activity will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the services provided include dental check-ups, ophthalmological screening, laboratory tests, bone density measurements, and other specialties, all completely free.

Each specialty will provide a maximum of 100 appointments; and each person can receive a maximum of two treatments at the event.

“We want to celebrate Doctor’s Day in our country doing what we do best as health professionals, which is tending to the population. It is a valuable opportunity to promote partnership between those who need medical advice and those who can monitor their health status,” said Dr. Alexis Castillo, association president.

Other services provided include papanicolaou testing, male cytology, nutritional consultations, electrocardiograms, skin cancer detection (dermatology), and ultrasounds of any area of the body.

The aim of the activity, said the association, is to make a social and humanitarian contribution to the population by supporting people who may not have ready access to these services.

Results for exams that require more time to process will be available at a later date for people to pick up at the association office. Results of nutritional evaluations, vision tests, dental check-ups, electrocardiograms, and skin cancer tests will be provided immediately, said the association.
