U.S. police in New Jersey deported a Costa Rican man who fled the country in 2003 presumably to escape after allegedly raping his daughter, reported El Diario Extra, a Costa Rican newspaper.
According to local Costa Rica news, Jose Alberto Orozco Ramirez, 48, was accused of raping his under age daughter who then became pregnant.
New Jersey news sources stated this week that U.S. officials were aided in their Newark, NJ arrest by an Interpol warrant for Orozco’s arrest. Orozco has been wanted by the Cartago public prosecutor’s office since he fled the country in 2003.
Orozco arrived in the United States as a nonimmigrant B-2 visitor June 3, 2003, and exceeded his stay, so was in the U.S. illegally, according to information gathered by NJ.com news.
He was arrested in July, said El Diario Extra; and was escorted by Costa Rican police when he arrived at the Juan Santamaría airport Tuesday this week, said NJ.com.
