A man who is believed to be of Ukranian descent named Spridonov and about 60 years old was declared dead today at about 12:30 p.m. near the on-ramp to Route 27, south of the La Sabana Stadium, reported AMPrensa.com, a Costa Rican digital news source.

The victim was approached while driving a blue 4×4 Mazda CX9 by two men on a motorcycle while waiting to turn onto the on-ramp, and shot several times in the back through the car’s window at noon.

Various emergency support officials arrived on the scene and worked as a team to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation for 45 minutes, reported Costa Rica’s Channel 7 Teletica news, before being declared dead at the scene.

The shooting occurred a scant 50 meters south of the Teletica building located across from La Sabana Park’s western edge.

Teletica’s security cameras therefore recorded the moment when the motorcycle approached the driver’s side of the Mazda and shot before speeding off onto Route 27 heading in the direction of Escazú.

There were many cars circulating at the intersection where the shooting occurred, and luckily nobody else was hurt in the event.

A woman accompanying the Ukranian was apparently unharmed and was taken by police for questioning, said Teletica.

According to information received, the vehicle is registered in the name of a corporation and apparently, that company is located in the area of Escazú, reported AMPrensa.com. The corporation owners are foreigners.
