Washington, DC, Nov. 14 — Data from more than 400 million people with online accounts on the FriendFinder Network – a dating and pornography website – was stolen by hackers in October, according to Leaked Source.

According to Leaked Source, a company that provides notice of cyber attacks, the data breach affected some 339 million accounts on AdultFriendFinder.com, a casual dating website which the company describes as the “world’s largest sex and swinger community.”

Besides the adult section of the website, the attack targeted other parts of the company’s activities, including 62 million accounts on Cams.com and 7 million on Penthouse.com.

In addition, personal data from more than 15 million “deleted” accounts that had not actually been purged from the company’s database was also stolen.

Leaked Source said that the attack is the largest ever registered in terms of the number of users affected, outpacing the hack attack suffered by the MySpace social network in 2013 when some 360 million accounts were affected.

The California-based Friend Finder Network last year also suffered a cyber attack affecting the data of almost four million accounts, including information on customers’ sexual preferences and whether users were seeking extramarital relationships.

In a statement sent to the specialized technology website ZDNet, Friend Finder Network did not specifically confirm the attack reported by Leaked Source, but did admit to having security “vulnerabilities.”

“Over the past several weeks, FriendFinder has received a number of reports regarding potential security vulnerabilities from a variety of sources. Immediately upon learning this information, we took several steps to review the situation and bring in the right external partners to support our investigation,” said Friend Finder Network vice president and senior counsel Diane Ballou in an email.
