Costa Rica has the best passport in Central America

Passport Index presented its Global Passport Power Rank 2017 which basically ranks passports of the world according to their total visa-free score.

The study included 199 countries. The country with the best passport in the world is Germany, holders of a German passport can visit 158 countries without the need of a Visa or getting the Visa upon arrival.

Sweden and Singapore tied in second place; these passports will give you entry to 157 countries.

Several countries tied in the third power rank, including the United States, which is the best passport in the American continent since they can enter 156 countries without visa. In America the second best passport is the Canadian passport.

In Central America, Costa Rica managed the first position, citizens of this country have unrestricted entry to 121 countries, which will soon become 122 since the United Arab Emirates recently announced they will be eliminating the requirement of a Visa for Costa Ricans after the signing of an agreement between both countries. The rest of the countries in Central America ranked as follows: Panama (116), El Salvador (111), Honduras (110), Guatemala (107), Nicaragua (102).

Costa Rica’s passport is the sixth in Latin America and worldwide is in power rank 29.

Not needing a VISA to enter a country is a sign of trust and good political and diplomatic relations between two countries; it also increases tourism and commerce among nations.
