Greenpeace on Wednesday unfurled a massive “Resist” banner near the White House on Wednesday, a day after the president of the United States signed executive orders for two controversial oil pipelines.
Seven activists scaled a construction crane just a few blocks from the president’s official residence and deployed the banner, which is around 21 meters (70 feet) long and 10.5 meters (30 feet) wide.
Washington police were dispatched to the scene and set up a security perimeter, while onlookers could see the banner and its slogan, which has become popular among Trump opponents, from virtually any vantage point in the US capital’s downtown.

Greenpeace said the activists from around the country were still in place and were “calling for those who want to resist Trump’s attacks on environmental, social, economic and educational justice to contribute to a better America.”
The president on Tuesday signed a pair of executive orders that pave the way for construction of two large crude pipelines: the Keystone XL, which would link Canada with the Gulf of Mexico; and the Dakota Access, which Native American protesters oppose. EFE
