— The application is available for iOS and Android.
Wondering when your local organic farmer’s market is open, or want to visit an organic farm on an upcoming road trip in Costa Rica? A new App might help.
The Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) announced earlier this month the launch of “Cr Organic”, a free App that allows consumers to directly contact organic producers without intermediaries, said the state-run agency.
The service was announced during the latest TedX Pura Vida event held in La Guacima, Alajuela March 2.
The Application, which operates on both iOS and Android system, lists the organic farmers, associations and markets that offer organic produce throughout the country.
ICE worked together with the Association for the Movement of Costa Rican Organic Agriculture (Asomaoco) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) to compile the information accessible in the Application’s database, said Raúl Sequeira, innovation and business solutions engineer at ICE , who led the App’s development.
The tool aims to help fulfill the country’s national organic agriculture promotion goals, continued Sequeira.
Gloriana Solano, founding partner of Cartago Organic, described the social communication initiative of ICE as excellent in that “it allows all Costa Ricans to find healthy offerings in terms of organic vegetables and fruits.”
