BMW Triathlon Series 2017 will take place in El Coco, Guanacaste on Sunday, March 26th with the participation of 500 athletes. The sport continues to grow in Costa Rica.
This is the first of a total 6 dates that will all take place in the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, and involves three different competition circuits: Sprint, Standard and Coco. The competition is open for different age categories from Junior (16-19 years-of-age) to 60+
“We have a commitment for the development not just of the triathletes but also of public and private centers, municipalities and communities. It is a big responsibility but we take it as a challenge to generate good experiences and improve the lives of people through sport”, commented Sergio Sánchez, director of Unlimited Costa Rica production company in charge of the BMW Thriathlon Series 2017.
Throughout the entire route there will be personnel from the organization collaborating to make the event flow properly, there will be proper sign posts and markers in the street and the federation’s judges will also be present to guarantee the security and proper development of the competition.
The Red Cross will have lifesaving personnel in place at the beach and in different points in the route.
Private security has coordinated efforts with Public Police Force and Touristic Police.
Sprint: 750m circuit swim, 20km bike ride, 5.2km run
Standard: 1,500m swim, 40km bike, 10.4km run
Coco: 1,600m swim, 60km bike, 15.6km run
The scheduled dates of the 2017 BMW Triathlon Series are:
April 23: Jacó, Puntarenas
May 7: Hacienda Pinilla, JW Marriot, Guanacaste
June 4: Paseo de los Turistas, Puntarenas
September 2: Papagayo, Guanacaste
December 3: Marina Pez Vela, Quepos, Puntarenas
