American professional triathlete Kevin Collington took the first place in the pro category of the Ironman 70.3 Costa Rica in Guanacaste with a time of 3:43:21.

The second place was for Colombian Carlos Quinchara who stopped the clock at 3:47:58, the third spot was taken by Felipe Van de Wyngard from Chile with a mark of 3:49:44.

Costa Rican Leonardo Chacón came in fourth with a time of 3:53:49 who made an incredible effort and as he crossed the finished line had to receive medical assistance.

Chacón actually came first out of the water, but as he got on his bike Collington was right behind him followed closely by the other Costa Rican competitor in this category, Pablo Herrera.

Collington took the lead in the running portion and Chacón was unable to keep up, Quinchara and Van de Wyngard caught up with him and Chacón eventually was left behind.

In the women competition It was experienced British Leanda Cave who came out victorious with a time of 4:13:20. Cave took the World Championship of the 2012 Ironman Triathlon and Ironman 70.3, first woman in the history of the sport to take both titles in the same year.
