Santa Ana and Mora counties in the western outskirts of the Greater San José Metropolitan Area will be without water on Tuesday, October 3, according to Costa Rican Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (AyA, in Spanish).

The agency will be carrying out work on a 300 mm water pipe that supplies the areas.

Drinking water service will be cut from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the following areas:

Lindora, La Julieta, Calle Pilas, some parts of Pozos, Barrio Vásquez, Salitral, San Rafael, higher sectors of Piedades, Rio Oro, Calle Macho Madrigal, Calle Cebadilla, Ciudad Colón, and adjacent areas.

The estimated population affected by the outage is 10,000. People should take measures to store water they will need for the day, and officials said they would do their best to restore service as soon as possible, possibly even before 3 p.m, added Maritza Alvarado Granados, AyA press officer.
