Six Dead In Car Accident in Guanacaste This Sunday

A car accident registered at 4:18 a.m. this Sunday in the area of Las Juntas in Abangares, Guanacaste, claimed the lives of six people.

According to preliminary information there were 7 passengers in a pick-up car with capacity for 5 people. The car crashed into a tree for reasons currently under investigation.

Five of the victims died at the scene as a result of the crash, a sixth one died as she was being transferred to the hospital and one man, apparently the driver, is currently reported stable at the medical center.

All the people involved are from the area, 30-year-old Bryan Villalobos Fonseca who leaves behind a son; Wester Fonseca Obando 31; Yenory Aguilar Vega who also has a child; Lander Porras Ruiz 23 years-old; Fabiola Díaz Gamboa 25; and 25-year-old Daniela Jiménez Fonseca who had two children.

The route that connects Puntarenas with Cañas is closed at the time while personnel from the investigative police collect evidence and proceed with the transfer of the bodies to the morgue.

Another two car accidents took place last night in Route 27; one of them at 11:53 p.m. in front of Construplaza in Guachipelín, Escazú, when the driver lost control of the car, hit a railing and the car overtuned; the driver a 24-year-old male died as a result and the passenger with him was taken to the hospital in delicate condition.

The second accident took place in front of Multiplaza Escazú at 4:34 a.m. when a driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a street lamp post, the man was trapped inside the body of the car and was released alive by the firefighters and immediately taken to the San Juan de Dios hospital.
