Mission Shark is a non-profit Costa Rican organization that promotes the investigation and conservation of sharks and other marine species. For the sixth consecutive year, Mission Shark is calling those scuba divers that want to participate in the annual count of sharks and rays with the intention of extending their data base.

The event will be held two different dates, this Saturday, December 9 in Playas del Coco and the other one December 16 at Isla del Caño.

To participate the only requirement is to have a scuba diver license, “they don’t need to be marine biologists, we will make sure everyone understands protocol”, stated Andrés López biologist of the group.
Data gathered is used to stay up to date with the populations of the different species that can be seen in Costa Rican oceans.

Those that wish to register must pay $75 for two immersions in Playas del Coco, while in Isla del Caño the cost is of $190.00 which includes the rental of the equipment, the transportation and a guide to help identify sharks ad and a snack; an email can be sent to [email protected]
