The Coastal Challenge Costa Rica is one of the most important trail running events in the world which will begin this Sunday, February 11 and extend for 6 days.

A total of 110 athletes will be participating in the competition that involves over 236 km (146.60 miles) and takes participants through rivers, mountains and beaches.

“The Coastal Challenge is a challenging competition, both physically and mentally due to the variety of scenarios, climate and the distances that have to be covered. Competitors prefer it because of the challenge, of course, but also because it is an opportunity to see inaccessible corners of Costa Rica. The competition attracts the attention of more and more elite and amateur athletes that come to live a unique experience”, explained Rodrigo Carazo, director of the event.

Participants are coming from different parts of the world including USA, Spain, Canada, Mexico and Colombia.
Some of the renown figures include Michael Wardian (champion of TCC 2017), Timothy Olson and Tom Evans; while among the female runners we find Ester Alves and Ragna Debats.

This is the 14th edition of the multistage competition that will conclude Friday, February 16.
