In just a few weeks the Costa Rica Classic, stop of the PGA Tour Latin America, will be taking place at Reserva Conchal in Guanacaste.

The prestigious golf tournament will take place from May 7 through May 13 and its the sixth event of the 2018 PGA Tour Latin America.

“We are very happy to host the PGA Tour in Costa Rica for the second consecutive year”, stated Maurizio Musmanni, presidident of the Costa Rica Golf Federation. “For Costa Rica this is a very important event for the growth of golf and our development as an organization”. Musmanni also highlighted how these events also promote tourism in the country.

The Federation is making an investment of over US$200 thousand to ensure that the tournament offers the best conditions for the practice of this sport and the comfort of the 144 athletes that will be taking part of this competition.

“This year the cost will be of close to $220 thousand, we are receiving the help of Reserva Conchal, the Costa Rica Tourism Board, and the Costa Rican Institute of Sports and Recreation“, explained Musmanni.

Some of the professional players that will represent Costa Rica are: Alejandro Duque, Juan Marin, Julian Jimenez, Maynor Aguilar and Victor Jimenez; while in the amateur category, players Jose Mendez, Felipe and Agustin Odio have already confirmed their participation.

“This will help the amateur golfers. The road to be able to play golf internationally is long, difficult and expensive, and having access to the Latin America PGA Tour gives them access to this tournament. It can also be a door to get sponsors”, continued Musmanni.

The PGA Tour also has a 15 minute television show that is aired by ESPN and the Golf Channel, giving the country plenty of exposition.
