During the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset, a practice that allows them to understand the suffering of others. Fasting is obligatory for adults, except in cases of pregnant or breastfeeding women as well as the sick. Two meals a day are allowed, ‘Suhoor’ before dawn and ‘Iftar’ after sunset. Fasting also includes abstaining from sex, smoking, gossip, lying, fighting, etc.
