The Costa Rica male national Soccer Team “La Sele” has been working together throughout this week as their preparation begins in route to the Russia World Cup 2018.

The team will be playing in a full National Stadium on Sunday, June 3 when they face Northern Ireland in their last international friendly in Costa Rica before leaving to Europe next week.
Norther Ireland faced Panama this past Tuesday in a game that ended as draw with no goals.

The main lineup for Sunday has still not been revealed by head coach Oscar Ramirez.

Northern Ireland did not classify to the World Cup but it is well ranked in FIFA in position 27.

Goalkeeper Keylor Navas was the last one to join the team on Wednesday since he just concluded his participation with Real Madrid last Saturday when they won their third consecutive European Champions League.

During a press conference today, Navas stated: “I always want to play, and I feel very good. I hope the coach lets me play even if its just for a little bit on Sunday before we leave for the World Cup”, “We all know that they will demand just as much as in the last World Cup. The important thing is that we all want to make it as far as possible and make history”, he added.

Navas also made reference to the news of coach Zinedine Zidane leaving Real Madrid, “He always gave me his trust. He was a transparent person, he didn’t lie. Fans and players love him for the way he is”.

Costa Rica vs. Northern Ireland takes place at the National Stadium at 11 a.m. June 3rd. The national team will fly to Europe next week where they will prepare with two additional friendlies, against England on June 7 and Belgium on June 11.

La Sele will have its first participation in the Russia World Cup on June 17 against Serbia. The second game will be against Brazil on June 22 and the third match scheduled is June 26 against Switzerland.
