After 86 days of striking, the National Association of Public Employees (ANEP), headed by Albino Vargas, decided to cancel the strike, this after the fiscal reform was approved by the Legislative Assembly.

Last week, the Costa Rican Educators Union (SEC) had also chosen to go back to work.

Labor Union leader Albino Vargas, was, however, very clear in stating that they will go back to the streets and strike when other projects make progress in the Legislative Assembly as is the case of the bill of Public Employment and the bill to make changes to the Labor Procedures Code.

The strike began September 10 to protest the fiscal reform and caused millions in losses to the country.

Currently, two labor unions, ANDE and APSE, both from the education sector, as well as some employees of the Judiciary Branch, remain on strike.

Workers that are part of ANEP will have to return to their jobs by Wednesday, December 5.
