As The Costa Rica Star reported some time ago, Costa Rican Hanna is scheduled to defend her WBA World Female Super Welterweight Title (154 lbs.) on January 26th, but now, the site will be in Nicaragua, and not Costa Rica like it had been informed last year.

Gabriels’ opponent will be Sarah Dwyer, a former MMA fighter, native of Australia who holds a record of 3 wins, 4, losses and 2 draws and is coming off a draw for the Australian Championship against undefeated Tayla Harris in November.

The Costa Rican on the other hand, has a record of 18 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw, and her last fight was back in June 22, 2018 against US’s own Claressa Shields; even though Gabriels lost the fight by unanimous decision, she managed to retain her title since the match was in a different weight category (160 lbs.) and her belts where not on the line.

Initially, Gabriels vs Dwyer was supposed to take place in Costa Rica; however, since, the fight was moved to Nicaragua as part of the World Boxing Association’s KO to Drugs event.

Gabriels recently signed with Salita Promotions, and is currently being trained by her husband and also boxer, Bryan “Tiquito” Vásquez
Gabriels also recently announced the release of a movie next February 28 inspired on her life story under the title “Hanna Gabriels La Leyenda de un Triunfo” (Hanna Gabriels the Legend of a Triumph).
