The already traditional Art City Tour, returns this 2019 with the first event of the year “Por amor a Chepe”, “For the Love of Chepe” (chepe being the way Costa Ricans’ refer to the capital city of San Jose), scheduled on February 14, the ideal option for a fun and different Valentine’s Day.
Art City Tours are cultural events that take the public in night tours through different emblematic places of San Jose, Costa Rica; museums, galleries, historic buildings, etc . with the objective not only of promoting the visitation of the capital city but also with the purpose of rescuing the art and culture that hides in the city. Tours can be done by bus, bicycle or foot.
Last year, a total of 13,701 people took part in this cultural urban experience.

This first Art City Tour of the year will kick off at 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 14 and will carry on through 9 p.m., like every year, the tours can be enjoyed in three different modalities, by foot, by bicycle or by bus.
This edition includes visits to the Contemporary Art and Design Museum, the National Museum, the Jade and Pre-Columbus Culture Museum, Bitzú Store, Museums of the Central Bank, Alianza Francesa, Venti4/Siete Gallery and Eñe Store.
Bicycle Tour: Leaves at 7 p.m. from Parque España, the tour is organized by Chepecletas, Kickbike and Las Luciérnagas and does not require prior reservation.
Tour by Foot: This tour leaves at 6 p.m. and it requires prior reservation that can be done through email to the address [email protected].
Bus Tour: There arre three different routes and 7 different points to catch the bus, distributed to the East, Center, North and West of San Jose for the convenience of those interested. In this case, reservation is requiered, it can be done online through https://yappexperience.com/.
The Art City Tour is free, which means it usually attracts a large audience, if you wish to attend try to arrive early and register ahead of time
Art City Tours in San José started out in February 2010, every year the number of attending public grows. It is an initiative carried out through public – private alliances and financed by company’s sponsorship that understand the importance of “investing in culture” as a way to implement dynamic and sustainable change in the society.
