Civil Aviation in Costa Rica confirmed that airline Air Europe has presented its formal request to operate in the country.

According to information released, the permit to operate the San Jose – Madrid route could be ready by April 2020 if the airline complies with all requirements, the company would compete with Iberia which is currently operating this route.

Air Europe is putting its eyes in the Latin American market and has announced an increase on its flights of 25% by 2020 operating new routes and increasing the frequency of some of its existent routes. The company entered a joint venture with Air France – KLM to fly to Latin America with the hopes that this agreement will allow the three companies to grow considerably and achieve a joint quote of 19% of travelers between Europe and America to surpass Iberia’s current 14%.
