The Ministry of Health in Costa Rica confirmed 467 cases of COVID-19 in the country with the provinces of San Jose and Alajuela grouping 75% of the positive cases.

In total there are 227 women and 240 men who have tested positive, 435 of the patients are Costa Rican and 32 are foreigners; 422 are adults, 29 are senior citizens and 16 are minors. 26 people are currently hospitalized and 14 remain in intensive care.
Costa Rica today announced that the borders will remain closed to non-citizens and residents until April 30, an extension of the previous closure announcement.

The Ministry of Security reported that during this past Sunday for the day vehicular transit restriction a total of 375 fines were issued while 232 drivers were fined for violating the night restrictions to vehicular traffic.

“Costa Rica at this time has not had an intense increment of cases and this has a lot to do with the measures that have been taken. It has a lot to do with the response of the population because we are all a team and when we see that these number have not increased this does not mean that we can relax and think we have won this war. Let’s not lose that sense of national union, because right now Costa Rica is pulling through, but important weeks are coming”, stated the Ministry of Health Daniel Salas.

“I want to thank Costa Rica, because it is well deserved, but this does not mean we can let our guard down. Let’s continue persevering and we will make history, not just in Costa Rica but also worldwide”, added Salas.
